Star Community Papers, Rowlett
The Rowlett City Council recognized Dr. James Fowler III with a proclamation during Tuesday’s regular session.

Fowler was recently presented with the Five Outstanding Young Texans award by the Texas Junior Chamber of Commerce.

“None of this would be possible without the people behind me,” Fowler said. “(My wife and I) want to be in a town where we can make a difference. I look forward to the future. This is an honor and a blessing.”

Fowler was recognized for his philanthropic work and community service for the city of Rowlett. He was nominated by Leisa Peebles, a past member of the Garland Jaycees and a senator in the Jaycee organization. Peebles serves with Fowler on the Downtown Main Street Committee and has been impressed with his enthusiasm, dedication and willingness to work with local community and non-profit organizations in Rowlett.

“Dr. Fowler brings a fresh approach to the community,” she said, “and has become a well-respected and much-liked contributor to the community.”

According to the Jaycees, Fowler brings excitement, enthusiasm and fresh ideas to Rowlett and his chiropractic practice.

He and his wife moved to Rowlett five years ago and have been involved in the community from day one. Fowler is a director on the chamber of commerce, sits on the city’s Economic Development Committee and is on the committee and a sponsor for the Rowlett Downtown Main Street Series. Fowler also dedicates his time toward helping local non-profit organizations and contributes financially to their efforts to improve the community through fundraiser opportunities. Fowler strives to educate his patients and the community on vital lifestyle choices, the 100-year lifestyle and proper spinal motion to increase energy and eliminate pain.

Fowler joins Whitney Laning, president of the Rowlett Citizen Corps Council, who was a FOYT recipient in 2004. Other recipients for this year are Alberto P. Cardenas, Houston; Mark A. Melton, Dallas; Michael H. Morath, Dallas and Sean Carter-Hammerle, Houston.

Watch Racheal talk about how Dr. Fowler helped her with low back pain. She is 38 weeks pregnant and the natural relief couldn’t have come at a better time. What is even better she was actually a Chiropractic skeptic and her mother made her come in to the office.

Today the field of alternative medicine is like a wild jungle, full of unsubstantiated claims, junk science, and marketing hype.

This website is dedicated to providing referenced, scientific data on a variety of holistic and alternative medicine topics, focusing on universal principles, sound physiology, and the undiluted healing powers of the body itself.

Healers of the past have already solved most health problems of today. Unfortunately, most of their work died with them. Their voices have been muted by the din of a thousand self-proclaimed experts and Magic Bullet salesmen. This website seeks to draw from the forgotten wisdom of the past, and to honor its simplicity.

Despite what you may hear, our health is deteriorating year by year. The rates of all degenerative diseases in this country are increasing. We have more asthma, diabetes, cancer, heart disease, depression, arthritis, allergies, digestive disorders, and obesity than ever before in history.

At the same time we spend more and more money each year for “Health Care.” We have more doctors and more drugs than any civilization in history. But it’s not working.

What’s not working is the underlying idea. If doctors and drugs could give us better health, we’d already be better. That is why the field of holistic and alternative medicine is growing so fast – it’s survival.

The healthiest people in human history were groups who were geographically isolated from “civilization.” These people had no specialists, no HMOs, no prescription drugs, and no immense hospitals. They were never subverted with the idea that the responsibility for their own health lay outside themselves. Except in the cases of traumatic injury, for most of their lives they looked to the body’s inner wisdom, and trusted only that. And it worked – they had beautiful teeth, strong bones, and very little degenerative disease.

Today it’s almost as though our ancestors are trying to speak to us. The searching, jumbled mess we find in the field of today’s Alternative Medicine has a real, valid, vital, underlying power source: the impulse to give the body time to heal itself, to let it try and put the steps of the healing process together all by itself, without potent, unproven interventions.
